Musculoskeletal radiology (MSK) is a subspecialty of radiology. MSK radiology uses state-of-the-art imaging technology to diagnose disorders of bones, joints, and soft tissues using a wide variety of modalities including conventional radiography (x-ray), computed tomography (CT), ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
MSK radiologists help diagnose a variety of musculoskeletal disorders including trauma, sports injury, arthritis, bone and soft tissue tumors, and many other etiologies causing acute and chronic pain.
Our state-of-the-art CT scanners allow exquisite three-dimensional reconstructions of any body part, and are routinely requested by our surgeons performing complicated orthopedic procedures or joint replacements.
Our radiologists work closely with orthopedic surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, and other physicians to provide excellence in care to patients with benign and malignant tumors of bone and soft tissue. We perform minimally-invasive procedures such as ultrasound and CT guided biopsies and radiofrequency ablation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, respectively.
MR arthrography is routinely provided and involves the radiologist injecting dye solution into a joint to achieve the most detailed MRI evaluation possible. Additional interventional procedures we offer include injection of medications into joints, aspiration of cysts or infected fluid collections, and arthrography of prosthetic joints.
